Tier-1 Service Provider Deploys Spirent VisonWorks for Network Automation Enablement

CRAWLEY, UK, 21 February, 2018: Spirent Communications plc (LSE:SPT), the world leader in lifecycle service assurance, today announced that a tier-1 service provider has selected Spirent VisionWorks to automate its service assurance workflows for enterprise customers. The service provider selected VisionWorks for its ability to rapidly and cost-effectively automate service assurance workflows, helping to keep operational costs in check as enterprise services ramp up. The multi-million dollar network automation project represents the world’s first deployment of a true cloud-native service assurance solution featuring virtual test agents (VTAs) in lieu of physical probes. The deployment, which is currently underway, will enable network automation for both physical and early-stage virtual infrastructure.

VisionWorks features a cloud-native architecture that leverages the latest open source data buses and frameworks. The architecture simplifies integration of service assurance functions with network management and back-office operational systems, enabling complete automation of workflows without the need for time-consuming and expensive custom software development. Automation benefits include faster on-boarding of new enterprise customers, better service quality at turn-up and rapid resolution of SLA issues after turn-up. Furthermore, virtual test agents (VTAs) may be instantiated on-demand on white boxes or network functions virtualization infrastructure (NFVi) throughout the network. The shift to virtualized, on-demand VTAs reduces the need to deploy expensive, fixed physical probes, lowering the cost of deploying service assurance and accelerating detection and resolution of complex service issues.
